T-Ball League Begins

The City of Selma SPARCS team is preparing for another season of T-Ball, giving young players a fun introduction to baseball while learning teamwork, basic skills, and sportsmanship. The upcoming season runs April 28 through May 28, with games played on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This league is designed for younger players who are just getting started in the game and want to build confidence while enjoying time on the field. Registration is $50 per player, which includes a team shirt, hat, and medal. Parents who need assistance registering can attend an after-hours registration session on March 26 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Nick Medina Senior Center. Registration closes March 27, so families are encouraged to sign up soon. The community is invited to enjoy four days of festival fun, including carnival rides , food booths , craft booths , and information booths . Law Enforcement United Long Ride to Honor Officer Carrasco

The community is invited to gather at the Selma Police Department as Law Enforcement United’s Long Ride makes a special stop in Selma to honor Officer Carrasco. Law Enforcement United’s Long Ride is a memorial bicycle tour made up of law enforcement officers from across the country who ride to honor fallen officers and remember the continued sacrifice of their surviving families. The 2026 California ride includes 24 federal, state, and local law enforcement riders from 14 states and 24 departments traveling through communities across the state as part of an 800-mile memorial ride. Date: Saturday, May 2 Time: Approximately 4:15 pm Location: Selma Police Department Please Note: Arrival time may shift slightly. Guests are encouraged to arrive early. Riders are scheduled to arrive in Selma on Saturday, May 2 at approximately 4:15 pm, though arrival time is subject to change as the group continues to finalize its route and ceremony schedule. Community members are encouraged to arrive early, as riders may arrive a little ahead of schedule or slightly later depending on the day’s travel. The group will be escorted into Selma by the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office. A brief memorial ceremony will be held upon arrival to recognize Officer Carrasco’s service and sacrifice. The ceremony is expected to last about 10 to 12 minutes and will include remarks, a memorial wreath laying, an end-of-watch reading, and a prayer. Officer Carrasco’s family is being invited to attend, and community members are welcome to come out and show their support as the riders make their stop in Selma. Anyone who would like to participate by bicycle is also welcome to join the ride for a portion of the route, whether riding into Selma with the group or joining as they continue on toward Kingsburg.

The Selma Police Department will host an AB 481 Annual Report Community Meeting on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Police Department Community Room . The meeting will give community members an opportunity to review the department’s annual report on military equipment in its possession and ask questions about its use under AB 481 . AB 481 is a California law that requires law enforcement agencies to provide public transparency and annual reporting related to military equipment. The law also requires local governing body approval for the funding, acquisition, and use of that equipment. Community members are welcome to attend and learn more about the department’s annual use report and the requirements outlined under state law.
