The 40th Annual Green Thumb Festival is a free, family-friendly event that brings together more than 120 garden, plant, and flower vendors and exhibitors, along with hands-on activities, educational workshops, and entertainment for all ages to celebrate Arbor Day at Walter Fuller Park. Festival goers can also take part in youth and adult workshops throughout the weekend. Registration is required for workshops, and space is limited. Parking will be available at nearby locations, including Azalea Middle School and Azalea Sports Complex with handicap parking available at the recreation center. Free trolley service will transport attendees to and from the festival grounds. PeliCAN Grant Program Information Session

The PeliCAN (Community Access to Nutrition) Grant Program, is a funding opportunity to address economic opportunity and healthy food access issues for residents within USDA identified Healthy Food Priority areas of St. Pete. The goal of the program is to improve physical and economic access to fresh fruits and vegetables for residents in Healthy Food Priority Areas through a mobile model, increasing SNAP access points and cultivating community-based business leaders. The PeliCAN Grant Program will offer starting capital, technical training and mentorship to individuals for the purpose of building a mobile healthy food retail establishment. The program aims for a systems change approach to addressing the social determinants of health that relate to healthy food access, chronic diet-related disease instance and economic instability. On Saturday, May 2, from 9 am to 4 pm, Pinellas Diaspora Arts Project holds the 4th Tampa Bay Chalk Festival on the Historic Deuces on 22nd Street in St. Petersburg, with the theme “Our Watery Futures 2.” The sidewalks of 22nd Street between 7th Avenue South and 9th Avenue South on the historic Deuces will be transformed into a kaleidoscope of colorful squares as professionals, beginners, and everyone in between are invited to register to take part as artists or viewers. The public is invited to get a behind-the-scenes look at the City of St. Petersburg’s water treatment facilities during a series of open houses this fall. Visit one or all of our three Water Reclamation Facility facilities and see how wastewater is collected and processed into reclaimed water in St. Pete. Tours will begin hourly at 9 a.m. with the last tour starting at 11 a.m. The majority of the tour is outdoors and is a walking tour. Attendees should plan to be in the sun and wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes. Photo ID is required for entry and children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
