Buffalo Grove is a village in Lake and Cook counties with a population of about 42,824. Named after Buffalo Creek, which flows through the area, it grew from a small dairy farming community of fewer than 200 residents in 1945 to a thriving suburb and was one of the first Illinois communities to enact a public smoking ban in 2006.
