Join us for #TakeBackDay on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 10 AM to 2 PM at Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital – 1000 N. Westmoreland, North Entrance A/B (Cancer Entrance) . Twice a year, in Spring and Fall, the Lake Forest Police Department partners with the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) and Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital for the National Take Back Initiative. Together, we remove over 600 tons of potentially hazardous materials nationwide. Safely dispose of your unneeded medications and help keep our community safe and clean. New this year, we will collect vape pens or other e-cigarette devices from individual consumers only after the batteries have been removed. It is important to stress that the DEA is not responsible for removing the batteries from the devices. Can't make it on April 25? Don't worry! Lake Forest residents can use our drug collection box in the vestibule of the public safety building year-round. Please note: this location cannot accept liquids, sharps (needles, syringes, lancets, auto-injectors, or infusion sets), or E-cigarette/vape devices in the collection box. Visit our webpage for more information: https://loom.ly/dLhanBs Let's work together to ensure the safe disposal of medications and protect our environment.
