Please join State Representative Larry Walsh Jr., Treasurer Michael Frerichs, and Shorewood Mayor 'CC' DeBold for their Shred Day & I-Cash event. This event is free and open to the public. There is a 2-box maximum, residential shredding only until the truck is full. Boxes or containers must be in the trunk or backseat for distribution. Boxes can not be left at the event. Find out if you have any unclaimed property/funds by visiting the Illinois Treasurer I-Cash booth. No appointment is necessary. Date : Sunday, May 17th, 2026 Location: Troy Township Office Parking Lot (25448 W. Seil Rd, Shorewood, IL) Time: 12 pm-2 pm Join us for our 4th annual plant swap. Bring your plants, cuttings, seeds, or plant accessories to share with others and make new plant friends! The plant swap is free to all residents of the Village of Shorewood, City of Joliet, and Troy Township. Plant Swap Rules ABSOLUTELY NO SELLING WILL BE ALLOWED. Everyone must have at least one plant, cutting, seeds (no commercial packets), plant accessory (example: macrame hangers, plant stands, decorative pots, non-disposable) to trade. All indoor and outdoor varieties are welcome. All plant items must be in individual pots, containers of water, or have their roots/lower stems wrapped in moist paper towels. Try to label your plants and include care instructions, if possible. Plant items must be pest-free and healthy. All swaps must be agreed to BY BOTH PARTIES. DO NOT grab plants without express permission from the owner. Swap yes, Swipe, no. Use the Honor System to ensure swaps are balanced and respectful. Be mindful of swapping equal amount of plants. No Commercial Landscapers & Swapping. Bring a cardboard box, wagon, cart, or other means for carrying your trades around. We will have a freebie table if you'd like to drop off any plants without needing a trade. Limited space will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Kids are welcome. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash. If cancelled due to rain - swap date will move to Sunday, 31st from 12 pm - 2 pm.

Grab your lawn chairs, picnic blankets, and coolers for a Party in the Park at Towne Center. Every Thursday in June and July (excluding July 2, 2026), from 6:30-9:00 p.m., will feature a band or movie for residents to enjoy at the amphitheater. Food trucks and Shorewood Artisan Market vendors will also be joining the fun, providing food and shopping options for all attendees. A band lineup will be released at the start of summer. They must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to participate. Head over to Village Hall for our annual Children's Fishing Derby! Check-in will begin at 7:00 a.m. We will also have a list of all the pre-registered participants. The Fishing Derby will start at 8:00 a.m. All hooks will be out of the water at 9:30 a.m. Prizes will be awarded right after the hooks are taken out of the water. **Registration link will be released closer to event date** Registration is also available in person on the day of the event!!
