Where do these events come from?

Events are collected from official municipal calendars, park district schedules, library programs, and community organization websites. We aggregate them into a single calendar so you can see everything happening in one place.

How far in advance are events listed?

Most events appear as soon as the organizing body publishes them, which can range from a few days to several months in advance. Recurring events like farmers markets or library programs are typically posted at the start of each season.

Can I submit an event to be listed?

Currently, events are pulled automatically from official municipal sources. Community-submitted events are not yet supported, but we are working on adding that feature.

Come view and learn about the many glorious spring wildflowers of the woodland. Trillium, Jack-in-the-pulpit, Dutchman’s breeches, Trout Lilies, Violets, Wild Ginger, and many more will be in bloom. Naturalist Craig Elston will lead all walks, sharing information about the natural features and helping you to learn to identify many species. All walks will begin from the parking area at the end of New Holland Ave., east of 32nd Ave.  Participants should come prepared for the weather, as the walk will be held except in the event of threatening or severe weather. Long pants and shoes or hiking boots are recommended for all walks.

Ferns of the HNC and Early Summer Wildflowers

The focus of this walk will be the six ferns found in the park and information about ferns. We will look for early summer wildflowers and other natural features of interest along the trails as we travel from fern to fern. Grand Explorers' Trail Race

Prairie Flowers and Butterflies

3:00 PM · Hudsonville Nature Center

July is a great time to look for butterflies and take in the prairie as the warm-season flowers and grasses begin their majestic showing. Flowers in bloom could be Leadplant, Gray-headed Coneflowers, Rosin Weed, Culver’s Root, Butterfly Milkweed and more. Long pants and shoes are highly recommended. This walk will be held on the Prairie Path and a trip into the Prairie itself to experience what it is like walking in tall grasses over your head. We will also view the prairie from the raised observation deck. Naturalist Craig Elston will lead all walks, sharing information about the natural features and helping you to learn to identify many species. Kid's Scavenger Hunt

11:00 AM · Hudsonville Nature Center

This scavenger hunt is for kids who must be accompanied by at least one adult per family or small group. You will be given a list and will be given an hour to find as many items on the list as you can. We will meet at the parking area at the end of New Holland and move to the prairie area before starting your hunt. All items on the list will be able to be found from trails in the woods and prairie. Bring your phone as you may need to take pictures of some items on the list. Naturalist Craig Elston will lead all walks, sharing information about the natural features and helping you to learn to identify many species.
